Refuge4Pets – Promo

Refuge4Pets offers specialist animal fostering services across Devon and Cornwall to survivors of domestic abuse so they can be assured that their much-loved animals are being looked after as they rebuild their lives following an escape from a domestic abuse situation. Most temporary accommodations for these individuals and families do not allow pets, which often puts survivors in the incredibly heart-breaking situation of having to leave their beloved animals behind—and having to leave their pets can unfortunately prevent them from leaving the abusive situation.   Refuge4Pets hopes to make the transition a little bit easier by providing a safe place for people to leave their pets, knowing they are being looked after and cared for, to give them peace of mind as they find better homes for themselves. Refuge4Pets also provides an outreach service to support victim-survivors in settling into new communities and recover from the abuse they experienced.

This is all outlined in this 2D hand drawn animation which tells the story of how one family were supported by Refuge4Pets while they were in temporary accommodation. By sending the owners updates they stay connected to their pets, giving them a light in what can be a very dark time. The animation provides a way to tell the true story of one family’s experience with Rescue4Pets. As the subject matter is highly sensitive, the use of 2D hand drawn animation creates a way for the people who are going through incredibly stressful abuse situations to receive and process the information provided through the explainer video in a more stress-free way. Refuge4Pets exists as an entity to help these families and individuals and this animated explainer video allows them to do just that, but in a trauma informed manner that is cognisant of the needs of their target audience.
