Imperial College London – Graduation Main Introduction

Due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic and resulting worldwide shutdown, the College’s 2020 graduations which take place in October couldn’t happen in person. In light of this, they approached Pushed to create this animation to highlight how proud they were of their graduating students given the challenges that 2020 threw at them. The students, like much of the world, had to adapt to enormous unforeseen changes in their lives in order to achieve the enormous feat of graduating from University in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. This animation was used as an introduction to a combination of clips from different academic staff members congratulating the students on their successes and giving the students a small sense of the celebration that is due upon completion of university education.

Pushed used a combination of Adobe Illustrator, Premier Pro and After Effects to create this abstract animation style video that could be shared with their students across several platforms to celebrate their success, even if it was in a non-traditional way due to circumstances. The style was kept bright and happy to ensure that the overall celebratory tone came across, and the abstract animations matching the university colours helped to keep things light hearted and cheerful. The accompanying music and text helped to reinforce the animations’ happy tone in a manner that would engage the audience. In a time of world events when everyone needed a little boost, Pushed was pleased to fill this need and help to celebrate the students who graduated from Imperial College London during one of the most challenging years yet.
