This Sorcerer’s Apprentice 30 second TV commercial was an innovative approach to a furniture TV commercial as the client wanted to push the boundaries away from traditional retail TV commercials. Throughout the three months it took to plan and build this commercial, we combined live action from filming on location and filming with actors with CGI furniture that came to life.

The CGI furniture was constructed using a 3D hand scanner working in conjunction with students from Plymouth City College. The scanned images formed the basis of the final models that were cleaned, textured, and rigged in Cinema 4D and brought to life for the end product. It pushed a lot of technical boundaries with regards to lighting exterior scenes in CGI to match the location footage.

The client has had fantastic results and lots of positive feedback about the commercial and is already thinking about the production of the next one.
